A structured story brief
Define the central character, setting and emotional change before arranging pages. A focused brief gives you a useful standard for judging later text and illustration choices.
An AI picture book generator is most useful when you can revise the story and artwork before committing to print. This workspace connects a book brief, page-based editing and export preparation for a specific format: an English watercolor story for ages 4–6, at 8.5 × 8.5 in and 32 physical pages. The intended print package has a separate interior PDF and full-wrap cover PDF, with EPUB available in the export workflow. Start by preparing a draft and understanding the current settings. Public AI generation is currently closed, so the page explains the supported workflow without promising an instant finished book. The free calculators remain available for independent format checks.
Draft preparation and editing are available. Live generation and paid checkout depend on current account availability; public generation is currently closed.
Define the central character, setting and emotional change before arranging pages. A focused brief gives you a useful standard for judging later text and illustration choices.
The preset supplies a known page count, trim and intended age range. Working within that format helps you plan pacing instead of treating a book as a pile of unrelated pictures.
Edit the wording and its placement independently of the illustration. Check text contrast, safe margins and the relationship between the sentence and the scene.
Keep track of revisions and restore earlier work when a new direction does not improve the book. Compare changes before deciding which version to export.
The workflow supports reviewing a replacement image candidate when generation is enabled. Author review remains necessary for character continuity and story-specific details.
Prepare the interior, cover and available digital export from the saved project. Inspect the real result before uploading; file generation does not guarantee platform approval.
Describe a character who wants something, a simple obstacle and a meaningful resolution. Include the tone you want a child and adult to share during a read-aloud. Avoid stuffing the brief with many settings or lessons that compete for space. The current preset is short, so each scene should move the story forward. Prepare the draft first and check the account’s availability before trying to start a generation operation.
Read the proposed sequence as a story rather than a checklist. Look for a beginning that establishes the character, a middle that changes the situation and an ending that answers the opening promise. Check whether the illustration on each page adds something the words do not already repeat. Correct problems in pacing or motivation before investing time in detailed visual revisions; an attractive picture cannot repair a missing story beat.
Review text and images at the scale of a real page. Shorten a sentence if it crowds the layout, move a caption away from a busy area, and check that a recurring character retains the features the story relies on. Use saved versions for changes you may want to compare. When a replacement image operation is available, review the candidate before accepting it. Keep the book’s overall visual language consistent across the sequence.
Finish the interior before finalizing the cover. Review every physical page, including opening matter and intentional blank space, then export the saved version. Check that the cover’s spine matches that final count and the selected paper. Inspect the PDF pages individually and in reading order, then review the upload in KDP Print Previewer. A physical proof gives you another opportunity to catch small text, awkward crops and details that looked different on a bright screen.
Children’s stories depend on details that a general image or text model can miss. A character may need to carry the same object across scenes, the ending may rely on a clue introduced earlier, and a sentence may sound fine silently but become awkward when read aloud. Treat the draft as material to shape. Read it aloud, check the visual sequence without the text, and ask whether the final page delivers the feeling you intended.
The editor’s separate objects make some corrections more practical, but they do not replace author judgment. Character consistency is a review task, not a guarantee. Likewise, the configured age range describes the intended workflow; it is not an independent reading-level certification.
| Setting | Current format | Print check |
|---|---|---|
| Trim | 8.5 × 8.5 in | Match the KDP paperback trim. |
| Physical pages | 32 | Use the final interior PDF count for the cover. |
| Interior with bleed | 8.625 × 8.75 in | Extend artwork into the bleed, keeping important details inside. |
| Color printing | Premium color on white paper for this short format | Standard color starts at 72 pages; do not select it for a shorter interior. |
| Raster resolution | At least 300 DPI at placed size | Inspect the actual source image and crop; dimensions alone do not establish detail. |
Print specifications: KDP paperback submission guidelines, checked 2026-10-30. The generator preset comes from the current product configuration.
No approved generated book is available for public inspection yet. This page describes the implemented workflow and supported preset; it does not claim that decorative artwork or local test fixtures prove final generation quality.
Plans use credits. The amounts below come from the same catalog as the pricing page. A book’s generation quote depends on the requested operation; there is no verified flat price per book. Public generation and checkout are currently unavailable. Check the current plans and availability before purchasing or budgeting a production run.
| Plan | Monthly price | Monthly credits | Equivalent cost for your quote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $25.00 | 2,500 | Enter an actual quote above |
| Author | $49.00 | 5,500 | Enter an actual quote above |
| Studio | $99.00 | 12,000 | Enter an actual quote above |
Equivalent cost = quoted credits × plan price ÷ included credits. This assumes all included credits are used. It excludes printing, tax, additional revisions and unused credits; your subscription bill is still the full plan price. A draft or calculator result does not reserve a generation price. Welcome-credit eligibility, if available, is checked in your account; no universal free-book allowance is promised.
Use the book page count calculator for prose-heavy projects and the KDP cover size calculator for precise paperback geometry. If you are exploring another product type, read the AI coloring book generator availability and print guide. Individual asset work belongs in the text to image illustration tool; publication decisions still require a complete book review. The bleed and gutter guide explains the space needed around important content.
Writing example: a small fox wants to welcome a new neighbor but feels shy. After two unsuccessful attempts to say hello, the fox invites the neighbor to plant a seed together. Keep one main character, a clear obstacle and a visible change by the ending.
Before preparing your draft, add the character’s recurring visual details, the setting and the intended read-aloud tone. Review whether each scene can be shown in a picture. This is an illustrative writing brief, not a generated sample or a promise of identical characters across every image.
The current book specification is an English watercolor picture book for ages 4–6, with 32 physical pages and a 8.5 × 8.5 in trim. Its story target is approximately 500 words, supported by 14 story illustrations. These are the current workflow constraints, not examples from an unlimited menu. You can prepare and edit drafts in the workspace; live generation depends on the availability shown in your account.
The workflow is designed to connect planning, illustrations, editing and export, but the author still needs to review the manuscript and every picture. Check reading level, story logic, character continuity, spelling and the relationship between words and images. Technical export checks cannot decide whether a story is engaging or appropriate for its audience. Public generation is currently closed, so this page does not promise an immediate generated book or a verified unattended publishing result.
The editor represents text and images as separate objects. That allows you to adjust wording, typography, position and image placement without baking every change into a single flattened screenshot. Saved versions help you compare revisions and return to earlier work. Where generation is enabled, a single-image candidate can be reviewed before replacement. This is useful for selective corrections, but it does not mean every visual detail can be changed perfectly or that generated characters never drift.
The implemented export workflow includes an interior print PDF, a separate cover PDF and an EPUB option. Export eligibility depends on the project’s state and quality checks; a draft with missing assets is not automatically a finished print package. Confirm the exact files produced for your saved version and inspect them before uploading. Real generated examples and hosted end-to-end production output have not been published here, so the existence of export code is not presented as proof of print approval.
No. The current book preset is 8.5 × 8.5 in with watercolor illustrations. The free calculators cover additional paperback formats for planning, but those options do not expand the generator’s supported presets. If you need another trim, an adult coloring book or a different visual style, check for an explicitly supported workflow before buying credits. A calculator’s ability to compute dimensions is different from the book workspace’s ability to generate that format.
The pricing catalog defines subscription amounts and credit allowances. Generation operations use a project-specific quote, which should be reviewed before accepting a run. The pricing table below can convert an actual quoted credit amount into an equivalent share of a plan; it is not a guaranteed price for every book. Additional revisions, unused credits and print costs affect the overall budget. Public generation and real checkout are currently closed, and no free complete-book allowance is promised.
No tool can promise approval. A correctly sized file still needs complete content, suitable image resolution, readable typography, appropriate margins and a cover that matches the final interior. KDP also applies its content and publishing requirements. Review the exported PDFs in Print Previewer and order a proof before publication. Use the cover calculator for independent size checks, and use the actual exported page count rather than a manuscript estimate when finalizing the spine.
No approved public sample book is available on this page yet. We do not substitute a mock fixture, decorative illustration or another user’s private project for a real generated result. When examples are published, they should identify what was generated, what was edited and which export files are available to inspect. For now, assess the current workflow, editor structure, supported preset and free planning tools separately from any unverified claim about final illustration quality.
