A page-count plan
Estimate the number of illustration pages and optional blank reverses. Include the title and copyright pages so the cover is sized for the complete interior.
An AI coloring book generator should turn a theme into coherent line art, editable pages, an interior PDF and a separate full-wrap cover PDF for Amazon KDP. The goal is a book that works on paper: closed shapes, clean outlines, sensible detail and enough room near the binding. A dedicated coloring mode is not yet available in this workspace; the current book workflow is a watercolor picture book. Use this page to plan a coloring project, check the print requirements and understand the output you should expect before paying for generation. The free page count and cover calculators work now and require no account.
Available planning tools and a clear checklist for the finished book. Items described as output requirements below are not claims that the dedicated generator is already live.
Estimate the number of illustration pages and optional blank reverses. Include the title and copyright pages so the cover is sized for the complete interior.
Calculate the wrap, spine, bleed and barcode reserve. Download an SVG guide for a design application, then replace it with your finished artwork.
Assess closed shapes, line consistency and white backgrounds at the intended trim. A clean thumbnail is not evidence of a clean printed outline.
Prepare single pages in reading order, with deliberate blank reverses where needed. The exported file must match the paper size and bleed setting selected in KDP.
Keep artwork replaceable and captions separate so you can correct a weak page without rebuilding the whole book. Dedicated coloring-source output remains unverified.
See the configured plans and convert an actual quote into an equivalent credit cost. No invented free allowance or fixed coloring-book price is shown.
This is the preparation workflow for a coloring project. The dedicated generation step will require a supported coloring mode; the current picture-book pipeline is not a substitute.
Start with the reader rather than a long list of unrelated prompts. Young children usually need broad shapes and a clear focal object; more experienced colorists may enjoy smaller patterns and more detail. Write a brief that identifies the theme, difficulty, recurring motifs and elements to avoid. Plan variation across the book so successive pages feel related without being copies. Reserve room for any instructions or captions before commissioning artwork.
A suitable coloring pipeline should produce black outlines on a white background, with no accidental gray wash or unwanted text. Review each result for open contours, tangled limbs, merged objects and tiny spaces that are hard to color. Compare repeated subjects across pages for consistent difficulty. This dedicated pipeline is not yet available here. Do not treat an unrelated image preview or a mock generation result as evidence that a printable coloring book has been completed.
Place each chosen design on its own page, decide whether its reverse should be blank, and include introductory material. Check the inside margin after you know the complete page count. The free page calculator makes this planning step explicit: an image page and its blank reverse occupy separate positions in the file. Inspect the reading order as spreads so no intentional blank lands before the wrong design or interrupts instructions that belong together.
The finished interior and cover must be exported separately, using matching trim and paper choices. Check raster resolution at the size the image is actually placed, remove guide layers and review all pages in Print Previewer. Then order a physical proof to assess outline weight, small details and the effect of the intended coloring materials. Online previews help with composition, but they cannot establish how the final paper handles markers or how a thin outline survives printing.
Line weight should remain deliberate and visible at the final print size. Avoid fragile hairlines, accidental double contours and densely filled black regions unless they serve the design. Pure black outlines on a white background give the reader clear boundaries. Gray shading may be an intentional artistic choice, but it should not appear by accident in a page sold as unshaded line art.
Use at least 300 DPI at the placed size for raster artwork. Upscaling a small image or changing a resolution label does not recover missing contours. View the page at actual size and examine a printed proof. For single-sided designs, add blank reverse pages in the PDF and count them; do not describe KDP’s printing service as single-sided or promise bleed-resistant paper without a tested basis.
| Trim | Page range | Paper | Interior bleed | Single-sided design plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8.5 × 11 in | 24–590 | White, black ink | 0.125 in top, bottom and outside edge when needed | Add a blank reverse per illustration; count both pages |
| 8.5 × 8.5 in | 24–590 | White, black ink | 0.125 in top, bottom and outside edge when needed | Add a blank reverse per illustration; count both pages |
These are KDP format choices, not newly supported workspace presets. Confirm the final file with KDP trim, bleed and margin requirements.
We have not published verified coloring output. This space is reserved for actual generated pages and their export details. No stock images or test fixtures are presented as product results.
Plans use credits. The amounts below come from the same catalog as the pricing page. A book’s generation quote depends on the requested operation; there is no verified flat price per book. Public generation and checkout are currently unavailable. Check the current plans and availability before purchasing or budgeting a production run.
| Plan | Monthly price | Monthly credits | Equivalent cost for your quote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $25.00 | 2,500 | Enter an actual quote above |
| Author | $49.00 | 5,500 | Enter an actual quote above |
| Studio | $99.00 | 12,000 | Enter an actual quote above |
Equivalent cost = quoted credits × plan price ÷ included credits. This assumes all included credits are used. It excludes printing, tax, additional revisions and unused credits; your subscription bill is still the full plan price. There is currently no dedicated coloring-book quote or verified coloring-book cost. Welcome-credit eligibility, if available, is checked in your account; no universal free-book allowance is promised.
If your project is a story with watercolor illustrations, read the AI picture book generator workflow and explore the editable book workspace. For individual image experiments, review the text to image tool and its current availability. For a coloring project, finish the format plan first using the KDP cover size calculator and bleed and gutter guide.
Brief example: one friendly woodland animal, large enclosed shapes, clear black outlines, a plain white background and no lettering. Specify the intended reader and the space needed for coloring; a detailed adult pattern and a simple children’s page need different review criteria.
Check a trial page at its intended printed size. Look for open shapes, doubled outlines and areas too small to color comfortably. Use this checklist to evaluate artwork from a suitable tool; the dedicated coloring-book generation mode here is still unavailable.
A dedicated coloring-book generation mode is not available in the current workspace. The existing book workflow is a watercolor picture-book format, and public AI generation is currently closed. This page explains the intended coloring workflow and provides usable print-planning tools. You can calculate page counts and cover dimensions now, but should not purchase a plan on the assumption that it already produces a complete line-art coloring book.
A finished paperback needs a separate interior PDF and a full-wrap cover PDF matched to its trim, page count, paper and ink settings. Editable source pages are valuable for correcting outlines, replacing weak images and moving content away from the binding. The current dedicated coloring workflow has not been verified to produce that package. The free cover tool exports an SVG design guide, which is useful for layout but must not be mistaken for a finished cover PDF.
Adult coloring often requires finer patterns, more controlled line density and more deliberate repetition than children’s coloring pages. Those requirements should be tested on real printed examples rather than inferred from an attractive preview. A dedicated adult coloring book generator is not currently enabled here. You can still use the planning guidance to choose a trim, allow blank reverses and calculate a cover, while assessing any proposed line art at its final print size.
Not reliably. Desaturating a watercolor image produces grayscale shading, not clean enclosed shapes with deliberate black outlines. Automatic edge detection may also create broken contours, double lines and excessive detail. A coloring book maker should create or carefully redraw line art for the intended audience. The watercolor story workflow therefore cannot be advertised as a finished coloring-book generator just because both products contain illustrations. Review the actual black-and-white output before choosing a tool.
KDP paperback interiors are printed on both sides. To put a coloring design on only one side of a sheet, your interior layout needs an intentional blank reverse behind that design. Those blank pages count toward the final page total and therefore affect the spine. This does not make ordinary paper marker-proof. Consider the likely coloring materials, explain the format accurately to readers, and inspect a physical proof before describing its behavior in a product listing.
Use bleed when a design or background deliberately reaches the trimmed edge. Keep framed illustrations inside the printable area when you want a white border instead. With bleed, add 0.125 in to the outside edge and twice that amount to the document height; the cover still needs bleed in either case. Avoid placing small details near the binding, and use the final page count to choose an adequate gutter before exporting the interior.
There is no verified fixed per-book coloring price because the dedicated mode is not available. The plan table shows the current configured subscription prices and credits. When a real operation quote exists, you can enter its credit amount to estimate the share of a plan’s included credits it represents. That calculation is a budgeting aid, not a checkout price or a promise that unused credits, retries or printing are included in a single book cost.
Not yet. No product-generated coloring pages have been approved for public display, so this page does not present stock illustrations, private projects or test fixtures as proof of the generator. A useful example should show the actual exported line art, its physical trim, its placed resolution and any manual edits. Until those examples are available, assess the print-planning information on its own and treat the dedicated coloring workflow as unavailable.
